1. “What to wear?”
Wear gloves and warm clothing that allow you to move easily. Be sure to wear socks, too. Dress in layers so you can move freely on the ice, yet also put on a warmer jacket as needed. If you are not skating, do dress warmly. Lockers are available in both locker rooms for 25 cents for storing items while you skate.
2. “Are there warm places for non skaters to sit?”
There are two warm locker rooms and a heated snack bar available at the rink. These rooms are located between the restrooms and the skate shop. There are benches available and fold-out tables. Many parents place a blanket and toys on the floor for kids who aren’t skating at the time. Windows in both rooms do allow you to see the rink (though you may need to stand on a bench to do so).
The snack shop area is also available for watching skaters, eating, and other activities. There are tables and chairs, and a carpeted floor.
3. “Is there any cost if I do not skate?”
No. If you or anyone in your family or entourage does not want to skate, there is no cost. You are welcome to watch from the stands, from the snack shop area, from the locker rooms, or from almost anywhere else around the rink.
4. “What else is available in the area?”
Aliso Viejo Library is a short and safe two-minute walk from the Ice Palace. It is located at the corner of Pacific Park and #1 Journey. (the rink is located at 9 Journey) Why not go to the library before and/or after skating? It has a large children’s section, librarians eager to assist readers of all ages, and several indoor and outdoor areas for reading, studying, and eating (in two outdoor areas). It also has a Friends of the Library Bookstore, many activities throughout each week, and a full cafe. Monday hours for the Aliso Viejo Library are 10 a.m.-9 p.m. (except holidays).
