WELCOME TO THE ALISO VIEJO ICE PALACE SKATING SCHOOL!
In the Ice Palace Skating School, skaters will receive step-by-step instruction in a pleasant and supervised environment, enabling them to enjoy a lifetime of fun and exercise. We run a year round Skating School for all ages and levels so skaters can begin their skating journey and realize their skating dreams anytime! Classes are 30 minutes long and include free practice on the day of class. We believe in progressive learning and building confidence. Each class builds upon skills learned in the previous level, which provides our students the foundation of a strong skater. Skaters are evaluated regularly on the skills they need to master before progressing to the next level. The student is given positive feedback on what they excelled in and what they need to practice. The Ice Palace Skating School wants its skaters to be happy and appropriately challenged. As the challenges become more difficult, the length of time to accomplish those challenges may become longer. All students are individuals and will learn at a different pace. As a special treat, our Introductory skaters (Baby Blades, Toepicks & Tutus, Snowplow Sam 1, and Basic 1) will receive medals when they complete the class.
WHY ICE SKATING?
There are many benefits to Ice Skating. Some benefits include:
•Great exercise! Ice Skating boosts the cardiovascular system, building leg muscle and endurance. It improves joint flexibility and creates better balance, quickness, agility, and coordination.
•Develops social skills and boosts self esteem.
•Builds mental fitness through concentration, spatial awareness, and memory skills.
•Most of all, IT’S FUN!
Skaters in the AVIP Skating School experience all of these benefits. Not only is Ice Skating a great sport and fantastic exercise, it teaches children discipline, goal-setting, and practice; strong characteristics that carry over into their academics and everyday life.

YOUR FIRST CLASS:
Make sure that your skater is dressed warmly. Don’t forget to bring gloves or mittens. All protective gear (i.e. helmets, knee pads, etc) is optional except for Beginning Hockey. Please arrive early. Lane assignments will be posted at the entrances to the ice and at the Box Office. These charts will let you know where you need to go and also who your instructor will be. Check in at the Box Office to pay for skate rental if you need to rent skates. Skate rental is $4 per rental or you can purchase a rental card with 8 rentals for $24. Show your stamp to the employee at the skate rental counter and tell him your shoe size. Skates should be snugly fit and be tied tightly. If you have any questions about fitting skates, please feel free to ask for assistance. Beginner classes will meet off the ice first next to the Pro Shop on the first day of class.
A free practice session is included on the day of your class. To redeem each practice session, students are required to check in at the Box Office to receive a wristband prior to entering the ice surface. Please remember these practice sessions are for the student only and skate rental is not included. We encourage all students to use this ice time to maximize their skating potential.
Make-up classes can be arranged depending on class sizes. If you miss a class, you can call or email to schedule a make-up class. Skaters can only take a make-up class in another class of the same level. All make-ups must be scheduled 24 hours in advance and attended before the end of the month.
